Based on true events that shocked Japan, this story of abandoned siblings is a "harrowing, tender film" (The New York Times) that "unfolds with leisurely beauty" (LA Weekly). Filmed over a year and featuring a performance by 12-year-old Yagira Yuya that won the Best Actor prize at the 2004 Cannes International Film Festival, this "haunting" (Newsday) tale is "heartbreakingly brilliant" (The Boston Globe). A childlike mother of four sneaks her children into their new apartment as if it were a game. One of the game's rules is that only Akira, the oldest, can go outside. Their mother leaves, first for a month, then possibly forever. As the money runs out and the utilities are shut off, Akira struggles to take care of his brother and sisters, determined that they stay safe and together.
Nobody Knows is a movie that everyone can enjoy together. This is something not usually seen in movies of this type, so it makes it an unusual, yet pleasant experience. The movie is absolutely stunning and Yya Yagira deliver some award winning performances in this movie. I also think Ayu Kitaura was great!
I think Mia Kirshner and Adam Beach worked wonderful in Now and Forever. The great supporting cast includes Mia Kirshner, Adam Beach, Gordon Tootoosis, Theresa Russell, Gabriel Olds.
I left some information, immages, and video previews of Now and Forever below.
Summary of Now and Forever:
From the moment they meet, despite their clashing cultures, Native American John Myron (Adam Beach) and Angela Wilson (Mia Kirshner) form an unbreakable bond. One fateful night, John rescues Angela from a wicked act of betrayal. Faced with its aftermath, Angela flees town, unaware that she has set in motion a chain of events that will alter the course of both their futures in this life& and the next. A timeless tale of love combined with all the power and mystery of "The Sixth Sense", Now & Forever defies reason and re-defines the boundaries of the human heart and soul.
