One bill that could have an impact on the planning for the upcoming general election is Bill 310. If enacted into law it would allow the people of Guam to vote on whether the Consolidated Commission on Utilities should be abolished. The measure was introduced by Senator Adolpho Palacios.

If youd like to give your perspective on the measure a public hearing has been scheduled on Bill 310 for next Monday, June 23 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. A part of the basis for the bills introduction, according to the Democrat lawmaker, was in part because of continuous concerns of the community on the ever-increasing costs of utility services and the impact it is having on their ability to meet such obligations. If the CCU is abolished by vote, rate-setting powers would be restored to the Guam Legislature.
